Do these words come from the latin word for the sun?

Are the words soluble, solution, solute (etc.) in any way derived from the latin word for the sun, sol? I know that the above words are rather unrelated to the sun, but I was just curious. I asked my chemistry teacher while we were learning chemical states and so on if he knew the answer to this question, but he wasn't sure.
